Since around 2013, I’ve had a mantra that came from a dream. In the dream, I was chanting “Day one, day one, day one, day one,” over and over and over. It was so blurred together that it sounded more like a song. When I woke, I knew there was a great idea buried in that dream. Every day is Day One.
Day One
One way to get unstuck and get into action is to let go of your negative self-talk around when you fall down. A personal example for me is that I’ve been super heavy, then lost a lot of weight, and then gained it back. I recently put almost 50 pounds back on (thanks, depression!).
I have two ways to act. I can either make myself feel bad about that, or I can get to work. I chose to get to work. I’ve already lost 15 pounds of that weight and am back on track to get it all handled.
There are probably many “Day One” moments in your life and business. Areas where you’ve made mistakes, where you’ve fallen down, where you chose a bad path. True?
Action: Start the Day One Process. The process is easy. Every time you’re about to punish yourself internally for something you’ve done or not done, repeat this: “Day one, day one, day one, day one, day one,” until that voice is drowned out. Forgive yourself. And then take action.
We waste far too much time stuck. It’s day one.
